Iconic Chilean muralist and printmaker Alejandro "Mono" González will visit the OSU campus on September 10 and 11. González is the co-founder of the muralist collective Brigada Ramona Parra which in the late 1960s and early 70s worked on the successful presidential campaign of Salvador Allende who would later die during the violent military coup lead by Augusto Pinochet in 1973. Gonzalez has continued to paint murals throughout Chile and abroad and has become an important mentor to the younger generations of mural and graffiti artists in the country. Gonzalez's work is both bold and utopian, always informed by his ideals of social justice and class solidarity. He is currently one of the most important public and community artists in Latin America.

"A Public Conversation with the Artist: Alejandro 'Mono' González": In remembrance of the 42 years since the military coup in Chile, the artist will sit down with members of the OSU faculty to discuss his career as an artist as well as his involvement in social movements and his unique perspective on Latin American history and culture.
