The College of Arts and Sciences  offers autumn 2015 course covering Latin American history, culture, languages, economics and study abroad.The Center for Latin American Studies at The Ohio State University hosts events and film series through out the year, and promotes academic courses.

Below is a listing of available courses that students are able to register for.

Introductory Course on Latin America
INTSTDS 2100: Introduction to Latin America
Instructor: Ana Puga

The fundamental purpose of this course is to acquaint students with Latin America, in particular the economic progress it has experienced to date as well as the prospects for future development. To begin, the region's geography, demographic characteristics and history are outlined.

Quechua: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced 
QUECHUA 5502, 5504, 5506
Instructor: Luis Morato

This course will be comprehensive, integrating culture and language from the southern Quechua family spoken in the Andes.

New Haitian Creole Course
French 2194: Haitian Creole

The Center for Latin American Studies, in cooperation with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Indiana University, will begin offering Hatian Creole this coming autumn 2015. The class will be offered via teleconference at Ohio State's main campus. This course has been designed to support relief workers, physicians, college students and other volunteers traveling to Haiti by giving them a taste of the language and culture, and easing their efforts to communicate with the victims and residents of Haiti. The Haitian Creole course provides a significant amount of knowledge on the French-based Creoles spoken in Haiti as well as in the Caribbean.

New Course with Latin American Content
PUBAFRS 7509: Disaster Preparedness and Response
Instructor: Charlotte Kirschner

Course topics include: History of disasters and emergency management, intergovernmental relations in times of crisis, nonprofits in disaster management, communications during disasters, financing disaster policies and building resiliency.
