Work Study Student Position

The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute at the University of Georgia has a job opening for a Program Coordinator III position to work with our Portuguese Flagship Program and National Resource Center grants.

Job Summary:

The Program Coordinator III will report directly to LACSI's Program Coordinator IVs and provide broad support for LACSI's mission, including but not limited to the educational and outreach activities of the institutes two multi-million dollar federal grants. This position is full-time & is eligible for full benefits.

 

Duties & Responsibility

Administrative Support and Grant Oversight: Prepare grant budgets and budget narratives. Coordinate data collection/organization for large-scale proposals and post-award grant reporting. Facilitate communication and coordination between PIs and OVPR grant officers, for pre- and post-awards. Utilize "One Drive" and "Grant Smart" technology to coordinate collaborative grant efforts across multiple departments' faculty. Establish initial account set up and administration on newly acquired grants. Provide oversight and management of grant budgets and meet agency requirements for reporting. Perform administrative duties including accounting, payroll, budgeting, purchasing, and travel for LACSI, including but not limited to the institute's two major grants.

Project Coordination: Under the guidance of the Director and LACSI's Program Coordinator IVs act in a supporting role to develop and implement diverse aspects of unit activities and activities related to LACSI's two major federal grants, one from the Department of Defense and one from the Department of Education. Provide unilateral support to Program Coordinator IVs as needed to maintain program performance standards, and supervise part-time staff members, graduate assistants and undergraduate interns who work on projects led by the Program Coordinator III. Serve as a liaison between Flagship and NRC grants and associated project coordinators, PIs, and participating collaborators including university partners, local and state education agencies. Provide oversight and ensure compliance with university and federal rules and regulations. Work with LACSI and Flagship Directors to develop programmatic activities and outreach events.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a master's degree with 3 years of related experience; 
OR completion of a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required: Completion of a Master's degree with no experience; OR completion of a Bachelor's degree and several years of experience.  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies required to successfully perform work

Ability to create and manage projects with independence, supervise staff and student workers, be detail oriented. Some knowledge of Latin America, the Caribbean, and languages of the region preferred.
