Professor Bello's research and teaching areas comprise modern statistical modeling and analytics motivated by relevant problems in agriculture and veterinary medicine. Specifically, her focus is on hierarchical modeling– including both Bayesian implementations and their frequentist counterparts, mixed models– and encompasses both methodological developments and innovative applications.
In recent years, Bello has become increasingly interested in modeling approaches to animal agriculture from a comprehensive systems perspective. Systems-level thinking calls for synergistic integration across scientific domains with extensive analytic capacity. Her backgrounds as a veterinarian, animal scientist, and statistician are closely intertwined with these interests and efforts.
Originally from Argentina, Bello enjoys the outdoors in all its forms: hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, biking, swimming, sailing, golfing.
