FLAS Additional Competition AY 24-25

The Center for Latin American Studies will run an additional Academic Year 2024-2025 Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowship competition. The deadline is June 15, 2024.

Exceptionally, this competition will accept applications for Beginning Portuguese/Quechua/Haitian Creole at the undergraduate level, advanced Spanish at the graduate/professional level, dissertation research abroad, and dissertation writing at home.

Students interested in applying should review the information on this page and contact CLAS Assistant Director, Leila Vieira.

Applications and supporting materials will be submitted online through Microsoft Forms. The online form should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and should be completed at one time.

A complete application includes the following:

  1. The completed Online Application Form: apply using button at the bottom of this page.
  2. An up‐to‐date OSU Advising Report of all courses taken and grades received, and unofficial transcripts from any other previous non-OSU graduate work and undergraduate work (attached in your online application).
  3. A one‐page single‐spaced Statement of Intent (attached in your online application).
  4. A Resume or CV (two pages maximum; attached in your online application);
  5. A Budget Estimate section in your online application.
  6. Two Letters of Reference from faculty members familiar with your work, including language capability. Referees should send letters via email to clas@osu.edu by Saturday, June 15, 2024 no later than 11:59 PM EST.
