Join CLAS for "Andean Literature and Music: Performance of The Seed of Death, a musical reimagining of the work of Gamaliel Churata." In this event, Violinist Roger Zahab and tenor Robert Frankenberry will perform The Seed of Death by Nicolas Aguia Betancourt, a graduate student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. This song cycle sets texts by Peruvian philosopher Gamaliel Churata and explores the Andean understanding of death as a stationary moment within life’s broader transformational cycles. The event will include a critical introduction to the work, followed by a Q&A with the composer and the performers.
The event will take place on October 3rd, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM in Room 255 at Hagerty Hall.
