Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Intensive Portuguese Abroad for Spanish Teachers

The Intensive Portuguese Abroad for Spanish Teachers (IPAST) program is an intensive 3-week seminar abroad in Portuguese designed for classroom teachers and other nontraditional students who need compact summer offerings of this nature. Led by Dr. Scott Schwenter, the purpose of the program is to provide participants with an opportunity to analyze and practice the Portuguese language in a natural linguistic and cultural context, and to receive graduate university credit for that experience. The first iteration of this seminar took place in July 2023 in Curitiba, Brazil, and we are looking forward to taking the next group of educators to Brazil in Summer 2025.
