Michael Parenti will show how U.S. corporate power backed by the military force of the U.S. government has thwarted social change and development throughout Latin America. At the same time, democratic forces in Latin America have fought back and won a number of successes. Today the imperial power of Washington and Wall Street has been challenged in a number of nations. With the Occupy Wall Street movement, the challenge has reached right into the heart of the empire and across the nation and the globe. Dr. Parenti is the author of 24 books, including God and His Demons, Contrary Notions, The Culture Struggle, The Assassination of Julius Caesar, Democracy for the Few, and most recently, The Face of Imperialism.
