The HLL Virtual Colloquium was born out of a collaborative effort to stay connected and share our research on Hispanic and Lusophone linguistics during the COVID-19 crisis. Given the cancellation of many past and upcoming conferences, this virtual venue gives linguists the opportunity to interact with others, present their projects and receive feedback on their work. It also keeps us engaged, learning about each other's research and maintaining a collaborative community of scholars.
This Friday, 5/22 at 2:00 PM, Dr. Morgan (CLAS Director) and Dr. Schwenter (CLAS faculty affiliate) will present, "Pronouns in Foreign Lands: Vosotros in Latin America and ustedes in Spain" at the weekly Hispanic and Lusophone Linguistics Virtual Colloquium. This is a non-peer-reviewed venue hosted via Google Meet and anyone is welcome to participate. Talks are 20 minutes long and are followed by Q&A. Upcoming events with the link to the Google Meet room are announced on the Hispanic and Lusophone Linguists Facebook Group. You can also subscribe to their newsletter to receive the link each week.
The Colloquium Series is organized by OSU alumna Dr. Sonia Barnes at Marquette University.
