Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

06/28/11– Dr. Marcia Farr:

Marcia Farr from the Ohio State University describes this study as a long-term, intense participant-observation of a dense and multiplex social network that began in 1989. She describes these transnational communities in neighborhoods in Chicago. The families have homes in both Chicago and Mexico, with frequent communication between the communities in the U.S. and in Mexico. The study addresses how ways of speaking are related to the identity of the speakers as "rancheros/as", including frankness, teasing, respect and gender tensions.
