CLAS visits Heritage Spanish Class in Central Crossing High School

CCHS Spanish Heritage Class

CLAS Director, Professor Scott Schwenter, and CLAS Outreach Coordinator, Julio Beltrán, visited Central Crossing High School.

Professor Schwenter and Julio talked about Latin American culture, traditions, gastronomy, and other topics related to the region. They also shared with the students their experiences with teaching Spanish and Portuguese, as well as Capoeira.

The Spanish for Heritage Students class is a pilot project taught in Central Crossing High School for the first time. Nicolette Leon, an OSU alumni and former student of Professor Schwenter, is the Spanish Language Teacher in charge of this class.
