The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the Ethnic Studies Program and the Alianza Latina/Latin Alliance group at Case Western Reserve University are pleased to host the 14th Ohio Latin Americanist Conference for the year 2015. We invite all Latin Americanists and Latina/o Studies scholars, educators, and students from institutions of higher education to participate in this annual meeting on the status of Latin American and Latina/o Studies.

We are looking for papers and panels that explore topics such as the effects of neoliberal practices in the cultural production, the transformation of State economies into transnational flow of goods, the reshape of literary imaginaries, the Free Trade agreements throughout different areas of the continent, the filming industry vs the independent productions?, the introduction of neoliberalism through dictatorships, the preservation of patrimony by the State or the markets, the discourse of memory as a new commodity and the role of the global and regional digital practices within the literary systems and any other papers related to these issues.

Research areas may include (but are not limited to) literatures & linguistics, history, education, geography, political science, economics, anthropology, sociology, art, area studies such as cultural, international, women’s, gender, ethnic, and sexuality studies and film and cinema studies. We also invite proposals related to the natural science, environmental science, bioethics, and other fields underrepresented in past OLAC meetings.
