Assistant Professor of Spanish
Specialization: Hispanic Caribbean Literatures and Cultures
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Swarthmore College seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of Spanish with a specialization in Hispanic Caribbean literatures and cultures, and secondary specialization in Latino/a Studies.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Spanish by the time of appointment, at the beginning of the fall semester of 2015. The ideal candidate will be able to teach classes pertaining to different areas and genres of Latin American literature, especially of Hispanic Caribbean and its diaspora (with a focus on race and ethnicity, and/or visual cultures);; a writing course;; and Spanish language courses at all levels. Interest in collaboration in Swarthmore’s programs in Latin American Studies and/or Black Studies will be a plus. Applicants must show promise in scholarly research. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required;; strong command of English.
