Wexner Center for the Arts to Feature Two Latin American Artists in Upcoming Spring Exhibitions
The Ohio State University Wexner Center for the Arts will feature two prominent Latin American artists this Spring. Ranging from February 14th through May 24th, 2026, participatory installation by artist Ximena Garrido-Lecca, as well as the animated short, echoes of a wet finger, by Vitória Cribb will be available, free of cost for all audiences.
In her exhibition, Peruvian artist Garrido-Lecca explores the symbolism of seeds, plants, vegetables, metals, and fibers as they relate to the pre-Hispanic understanding of Andean and Mesoamerican cultures. The exhibit will use audience participation, physical display, and sound to explore challenges related to seed conservation, climate change, and environmental policies while also acknowledging relevant historical approaches to healing and regeneration.
echoes of a wet finger (2025), animated short by Brazilian artist Cribb, uses a combination of thought-provoking storytelling, science fiction, and animation to represent the reality of existing online. The film focuses on how technology can reshape personal identity and proposes transformation as a possible form of resistance. Cribb will also host a public talk on March 12th, 2026, to allow for community engagement and conversation related to her work. This screening will be take place at The Box, a video exhibition space in the lower lobby of the Wexner Center.
Both exhibitions use unique mediums to provide insight on a range of contemporary issues while highlighting corresponding forms of resistance and ways to make a change.
