Evan Beard is a graduate teaching associate and PhD student in Hispanic Linguistics within the department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University. His research focuses on sociolinguistic variation and pragmatics in the Romance languages.

Evan is currently teaching Spanish courses in the department. He completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University and was a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellow to study Brazilian Portuguese. Much of his work is centered on Brazilian Portuguese and its grammatical variation. He also had a specialization in Iberian studies, which contributes to his research interest in multilingualism and sociolinguistics within Spain. On top of his work with the Spanish and Portuguese languages, Evan also speaks Italian and Catalan, and his research includes comparative analyses between these four languages.
