Dr. Schatz is an Assistant Professor of International Studies.  She worked as a Senior Research Assistant with the Department of International Studies after being an Assistant Professor in Sociology and Criminology at the University of Florida.  She received a Guggenheim Fellowship with which she studied Sociology of Law, Latin American Studies, Political Science and International Studies.

Her eBook titled Sexual Homicide of Women on the U.S.-Mexican Border was published in 2017.
