Add to Calendar 2021-07-12 13:00:00 2021-07-12 15:00:00 Virtual IPAST: Portuguese Language Pedagogy Led by Dr. Michele Saraiva Carilo, Coordinator for the Portuguese Language Program and Lecturer with the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the Ohio State University, this 2-hour workshop will provide an overview of the main theoretical perspectives and pedagogical approaches on which Portuguese as a Foreign/Additional/Second Language has been developed within the field of Language Acquisition. Examples of how such theoretical and pedagogical can be used as frameworks for material design and/or adjustments in order to incorporate cultures of Portuguese-speaking communities in the K-12 Spanish classroom. There will also be time for Q&A.   Dr. Michele Saraiva Carilo is the Coordinator for the Portuguese Language Program and Lecturer in Portuguese at the Ohio State University. Her research and practice focuses on Portuguese as a Foreign/Additional Language, particularly how Critical and Intercultural Pedagogies are applied to Portuguese teaching and learning within multiple contexts for the promotion of pluriliteracies and intercultural awareness.
