Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Poverty and Inequality

The Poverty and Inequality Working Group is focused on understanding poverty and inequality in the broadest sense. We welcome scholars, both faculty and students, with research interests in: (1) the myriad causes of poverty and their complex interactions in perpetuating the “cycle of poverty,” (2) the impact of poverty and inequality on the human experience including mental, physical and social well-being, and (3) solutions that address root causes and alleviate and/or eliminate poverty and inequality within the Latin American context, including among Latin Americans living in the United States.

  • Hugo Melgar-Quiñónez – Human Nutrition
  • Cathy Rakowski – Women's Studies, Rural Sociology
