2021-03-12 11:10:00 2021-03-12 12:30:00 Aleijadinho (ca. 1738-1814): Life, Work, Myth On Friday, March 12, Guiomar de Grammont will present her lecture, "Aleijadinho (ca. 1738-1814): Life, Work, Myth". This lecture is the ninth installment of the Afro-Brazilian Arts and Activism Lecture Series by CLAS. The event is FREE and open to the public!  Guiomar de Grammont is a writer, playwright, professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, and a curator of literary events. With a PhD in Brazilian Literature from the University of São Paulo, she has published, among others: the historical research piece Aleijadinho e o aeroplano (2008), the collections of short stories Sudário (2006) and O fruto do vosso ventre (1994) which won the Casa de Las Americas award, and the novel Palavras cruzadas (2015), which won the Prêmio Nacional de Narrativa do Pen-Clube in 2017. In her psychological and polyphonic novels, she wrestles with the impact of environmental tragedies like the one in Mariana, Minas Gerais and the disappearance of political prisoners. She was the executive editor for Record (2012-2013) and curator of the space recognizing Brazil at the Salon du Livre in Paris (2015). She created and has coordinated, since 2005, the Forum of Letters of Ouro Preto, now in its 15th edition.
