"The Bridge Master's Daughter" Screening
The Abya Yala Student Organization has invited Elisa Stone and Matthew Leahy, the directors/producers of the documentary "The Bridge Master's Daughter", to visit campus for a screening of the film and a Q&A conversation afterward."The Bridge Master's Daughter": In the Peruvian highlands, a father and master of a 300-year-old bridge weaving tradition struggles to maintain his culture as his daughter tries to escape it. About the directors: Elisa Stone and Matthew Leahy formed Noonday Films ten years ago, filming and producing documentaries and commercial videos. They both studied documentary filmmaking in Vancouver, BC and are now based in Columbus, OH. They have been working on their first feature length documentary, The Bridge Master’s Daughter for five years. Their other documentaries Montaña de Luz and Old Radicals won the Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival and the DER Award in the International Documentary Challenge, respectively. The Bridge Master’s Daughter was born out of Elisa’s deep love of Peru and her passion for the stories of her people which has been reflected in the intimacy of the shooting for this film. This event is sponsored by The Center for Latin American Studies.
