Add to Calendar 2021-02-23 13:30:00 2021-02-23 15:00:00 Ethnography Film Series: Linda & The Mockingbirds + Q&A w/ Eugene Rodriguez The Center for Folklore Studies is hosting their special monthly (virtual) lunch/Ethnographic Film Series screening of Linda and The Mockingbirds + Discussion with Eugene Rodriguez, Founder and Executive Director of Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy!  Linda and the Mockingbirds (2020) is a musical travelogue that chronicles a journey to Mexico taken by the young students of Los Cenzontles (The Mockingbirds), a Bay Area cultural arts academy, with Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne. Beautifully blending the story of the trip to Ronstadt's Grandfather's hometown with poignant interviews, the film celebrates the music and culture of Mexico while offering a passionate and personal story about identity, immigration and belonging. Eugene Rodriguez, Founder and Director of Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy is a Grammy-nominated producer, US Artist Fellow, and holds a Master's Degree in Music. He has produced over 30 musical albums and has collaborated with David Hidalgo, Los Lobos, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, The Chieftains, Linda Ronstadt, Flaco Jimenez, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and numerous Mexican folk artists. His documentary productions have enjoyed broadcasts on PBS.  Dr. Elena Foulis, Senior Lecturer in Spanish and Portuguese, will moderate the Q&A period as well as discuss her podcast interview with Eugene for Ohio Habla!
