CLAS is supporting the School of Music as they bring Argentine flutist Fabio Mazzitelli to campus. In addition to visiting local schools, performing at the Latin American Music Celebration Concert and at the Ohio Latin Americanist Conference, Fabio will perform a recital with pianist Jiung Yoon.
This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
Programmed works are Amancio Alcorta's Gran Fantasía para flauta y piano, and two pieces by Alberto Williams — La colina sombreada para flauta y piano and Sonata Op. 48 para flauta y piano.

Bio
Fabio Mazzittelli, born in Argentina, is Principal Flute of the Orquesta Estable of the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires. He is also a tenured professor of flute at the Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires, and the National University for the Arts.
He started his studies at the National Conservatory of Music "Carlos López Buchardo". In 1980 and 1981 he was awarded a scholarship by the Colón Theater Foundation to study with Julius Baker and Marcel Moyse in New York. He was also recipient of a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation to continue his studies at the School of Music of Hannover, Germany, with Jean Claude Gerard. He completed a research licentiate in Musical Arts with a specialty in flute at the National University for the Arts in Buenos Aires.
Mazittelli is dedicated to the dissemination of Argentine music in his own country and abroad. He is a member of the new music ensemble Grupo Encuentros de Música Contemporánea which performed in Argentina, Chile, España, Francia, Italia, Alemania, Austria, Suiza, Holanda, Polonia, Armenia and Estonia. As a member of the ensemble, he was named Peace Ambassador by the Mil Milenios de Paz Foundation in 2014. Mazittelli is regularly invited to participate in festivals and serve as adjudicator at international flute competitions. In 2015, he was an adjudicator at the XVII l Concurso Nacional “ EnricoZangarelli ” in Citta di Castello, Italy, and taught masterclasses at the DIMA Doremi International Music Academy in Arezzo, Italy. In 2016, he performed at the Festival “Siete noches” organized by the conservatory Bruno Maderna, in Cesena, Italy, and his performance in Laureana de Borrello, city of his ancestors, was televised for the entire region of Calabria. He holds honorific membership into the Associazione Culturale Musicale Intercomunale Mtro. Paolo Ragone. He participated regularly in the Spring Music Festival organized by the Conservatory of Cesena, Italy, and has perform in Europe and the United States as a chamber musician and soloist.
