The Center for Latin American Studies is excited to host our first virtual Portuguese K-12 workshop for educators-- save the date for Friday, December 4! Led by Patricia Sobral, Distinguished Senior Lecturer in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University, and Michele Saraiva Carilo, Coordinator of Portuguese Language Program and Lecturer at the Ohio State University, this 3 hour workshop will offer the following, with time for Q&A:

  • Content for the whole K-12 spectrum on integrating art in Portuguese language teaching.
  • Focus on intercultural competence and offer strategies to adapt and develop pedagogical materials in order to expand the understanding of culture and move it beyond the notion of nationality,

Teachers who participate will receive 3 CEUs. This workshop is FREE and open to all teachers, but most suitable for Spanish language K-12 educators.
