29th Annual Waggoner Research Colloquium

This fall semester marks the 29th year of The Waggoner Research Colloquium, inaugurated in 1992 by former Director of Latin American Studies, Dr. Elizabeth Kuznesof. Every fall semester, The University of Kansas Latin Americanist faculty and graduate students have gathered to celebrate the ongoing research and scholarship on Latin America and the Caribbean. The colloquium features an interdisciplinary panel on a particular theme, followed by Q&A and a reception.

The colloquium will be Friday, November 13, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. This year's Waggoner Research Colloquium is titled “Confronting Health Challenges in the Americas” and will feature the following panelists:

  • Miguel Cuj, PhD Student in Anthropology, Vanderbilt University 
  • Miryam Yataco, Indigenous Language Rights Advocate, Peru 
  • Claudia dos Reis Motta, Licensed Mental Health Psychoanalyst, SEDE Psicanálise, Brazil
