"Brazilian Cultural Exchange Activity" pilot program a success!
During the spring semester, the Center for Latin American Studies successfully piloted a "Brazilian Cultural Exchange Activity," a four-week partnership between the Prudente de Morais bilingual school (Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo) and East Columbus Elementary School (Columbus, Ohio). The virtual exchange program provided more than 40 elementary-aged students the opporunity to learn more about food and water consumption, all the while engaging in cross-cultural discussions.
The Center wishes to thank the administration of both the Prudente de Morais bilingual school and East Columbus Elementary School for their continued support, as well as the following elementary school teachers for their valuable contribution in making this exchange activity a success: Kamilah Hawthorne, Ruth Colwell, and Gabriela Souza!
Additionally, the "Brazilian Cultural Exchange Activity" was successfully developed, implemented, and coordinated with the assistance of Department of Spanish and Portuguese graduate students Raphael Palermo dos Santos and Ana Carolina dos Santos Marques.
The Center expects to expand on this pilot program to continue faciliating understanding and awareness of Latin America among K-12 populations.
