Call for Proposals: 20th Annual Hispanic & Lusophone Studies Symposium

"Gender, Poder, e Instituições in Luso-Hispanic Literature and Media"
 
Scheduled for March 31 - April 1, 2017, the graduate student symposium will explore the role of power and various social, political, legal, economic, and historic institutions in shaping constructions of gender and sexuality in Luso-Hispanic contexts. Conference organizers seek papers that address these issues in a wide range of historical periods and academic disciplines: Latinx, Latin American, Lusophone, and Iberian studies. Possible themes include, but are not limited to: queer/cuir identity and representation, sexuality/sexualities, masculinities, feminism, gendered violence, gender and politics, performance or performativity, gay/queer television or film, intersections of gender/race/class, and gendered societal institutions.
 
Presentations in Portuguese, Spanish, and English are welcome. Please submit a 250 word abstract, title, and short biography to symposium_sppo@osu.edu.
 
Submission deadline: Friday, January 13, 2017.
