CLAS Awarded $645,000 from U.S. Department of State
The Center for Latin American Studies has recently received a $645,000 grant from the U.S. Department of State as part of the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) programs. The program at Ohio State, led by Heather Harper, Associated Faculty and Spanish for Business coordinator, and Ricardo Sosa, Associated Faculty and Spanish Heritage Language coordinator, will host 20 Latin American student leaders on campus for the next three summers to learn about Economic Development and Entrepreneurship.
Harper and Sosa have led this program at their previous institution and share that, "We are excited to embark on this new chapter of the SUSI Program here at Ohio State. We look forward to providing meaningful, engaging experiences that will empower innovative student leaders from diverse backgrounds and communities throughout Latin America."
While on campus, participants will engage in insightful series of lectures, workshops, and discussion panels from a variety of disciplines. Off campus, Latin American students will take field trips, do volunteer work in local organizations, and give a final presentation in Washington D.C.
We look forward to the exchanges that will occur between program participants and our campus and local community!
