CLAS awarded $8,000 grant from Ohio Hispanic Heritage Project
A multi-project proposal submitted by the Center for Latin American Studies has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Hispanic Heritage Project (OHHP) in the amount of $8,000.00. The Ohio Hispanic Heritage Project is a broad initiative dedicated to mapping the language, cultures, and identities of Hispanics in the state of Ohio. This project focuses on conducting research in these areas, but it also intends to integrate this research into teaching and outreach initiatives.
These funds will provide seed money for several CLAS initiatives related to Hispanic Ohio and the teaching of Latin American languages and cultures in the greater Columbus community, such as developing curriculum for the teaching of Portuguese at the High School leve, continuing to support the Brutus Calavera Coloring Contest, and organizing a Columbus Latinx mural tour for K-12 students.
We are thankful to OHHP for supporting our projects!
