CLAS Faculty affiliates receive Faculty Research, Teaching and Outreach Grant from OIA/ASC

CLAS Faculty Awardees

Four CLAS affiliates have received the Faculty, Research, Teaching and Outreach Grant, supported by the Office of International Affairs and the Area Studies Centers. This grant aims to advance research and scholarship across various disciplines and fields of interest.

This grant supports research that aligns with the engagement missions of Ohio State’s five Area Studies Centers and their respective regions of the world. Over the 2023-24 academic year, our faculty awardees will work on projects directly connected to Latin America and other regions like East Asia.

 

CLAS faculty awardees and their projects

 

Valente Alvarez

Valente B. Alvarez (Department of Food, Science and Technology). Dr. Alvarez's project is titled "The Importance of Food Science and Technology as an Area of Agro-Industries,” and it will be conducted in Peru.

 

 

 

Aimee Moore

Aimée Moore (Department of Architecture). Dr. Moore will develop the project “Latin American Architecture: Diverse Community Outreach Program, Student Workbooks”

Hollie Nyset-Nzitatira (Department of Sociology). Dr. Nzitatira will focus on Central America, with the project “Understanding the Genocide in Guatemala."

 

 

 

Ana Elena Puga

Ana Elena Puga (Department of Theatre, Film and Media Arts). Dr. Puga will work on a project that brings together Latin America and East Asia, with the project “Japanese Migration to Latin America in Three Works by the Contemporary Playwright and Director Kamisato Yudai.”
