CLAS Faculty Bryan Mark Sets New Record with Glacier-Mapping Drone

Red buckeye leaf.
CLAS Faculty Bryan Mark and University of Colorado - Boulder faculty Oliver Wigmore have set a new record, flying a data-collecting drone over the Peruvian Andes at almost 5000 meters, the highest altitude recorded in scientific literature. The two geographers are gathering data on how glaciers are responding to climate change. This drone captures images that are much more detailed than satellite imagery, allowing the researchers to create more accurate 3D glacier models.
