Cullen Roth is an Academic Year 2022-2023 undergraduate FLAS fellow studying Portuguese. Cullen is pursuing a double-major in Foreign Language Education and Spanish and was also a FLAS fellow in Academic Year 2021-2022.

"I studied Spanish for many years and became interested in Latin America and eventually began thinking of studying Portuguese as well. I do not regret starting my Portuguese journey two years ago and as a FLAS fellow last academic year I learned so much not just about the language but also about the culture. I have made multiple Brazilian friends since then who I speak Portuguese with every week and they have become some of my best friends, so I owe a lot to Portuguese and the FLAS program for motivating me to learn the language and culture of Brazil. I look forward to going to Brazil after I graduate during my summer breaks from teaching and I plan on speaking Portuguese the rest of my life."
