Nadia El-Yousseph

Nadia El-Yousseph is a 2020-2021 FLAS fellow studying Portuguese.

"I’m learning Portuguese to help increase my language and cultural competency to enable me to assess speech and language as well as deliver therapy to Portuguese speakers. I already speak German, Catalan and Spanish. There are few Portuguese-speaking clinicians in Ohio. By adding Portuguese to my skillset, I will help address the disparity between client need and clinician capability. Once I’ve completed the master’s program in speech-language pathology, I plan to work with multilingual children with communication needs.  I’m eager to help families navigate the complex road to ensuring their children receive therapy.
