Orianna McDavid is an Academic Year 2022-2023 undergraduate FLAS fellow studying Portuguese. Orianna is pursuing a major in English with a minor in Portuguese and was also a FLAS fellow in Academic Year 2021-2022.

"I believe that traveling and learning about cultures and lifestyles other than our own American ones is one of the most illuminating experiences a person can have, and I want to be able to deepen those experiences by being able to communicate with the people I meet.  I’m deeply interested in Lusophone culture, and I want to live abroad in Brazil one day.

In the future, I would like to be an author and travel journalist and live abroad for many years. I’m also interested in textbook writing and would love the opportunity to improve Portuguese learning materials in English."
