Thomas Jones is an Academic Year 2023-2024 graduate FLAS fellow studying Portuguese. Thomas is pursuing an MA in Latin American Studies and an MA in Teaching and Learning, Foreign, Second, and Multilingual Language Education.

"I am passionate about the study of Latin American issues within our education systems. Therefore, gaining proficiency in Portuguese will permit me to acquire the necessary cultural understandings to be a capable educator to the Latino population here in the United States.

I plan to be an English as a second language instructor, my goal being to advocate for Latino and other emerging bilingual students in our public-school systems."
