Federal Government Virtual internship opportunity for Portugese learners

Given the international importance of Portuguese, there is a robust interest in American students with Portuguese linguistic or Lusophone cultural competences. The Department of State, would like to share a great opportunity – a chance to gain work experience and make a difference in the work of the U.S. government!

eInterns play an important role in advancing the federal government’s reach around the world. Opportunities exist in diplomacy, democratic and energy reform, EFL teaching, and business development in emerging markets. There’s something for everyone.  eInterns spend ten hours a week from September through May.  Although this is unpaid, volunteer work, eInterns make connections that make a difference, gain valuable experience, and sometimes get course credit.

Applications for the Virtual Student Foreign Service (VSFS) eInternship program are open from July 2-22 on USAJOBS.gov with more than 30 federal agencies including NASA, the Smithsonian, the State Department, National Parks Service, and others. You can see all of the projects offered at http://vsfs.state.gov/

All applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in at least one university level course in the U.S. or abroad.
