Latin American Films Streaming through the Wex Now!

Divino amor

The Wexner Center for the Arts will be streaming the following Latin American films now through the month of December:

  1.  Divino Amor (Gabriel Mascaro 2019) (from now until December 24)- a feature-film set in a dystopic future in which the Evangelical Church controls daily life. Gabriel Mascaro was a resident artist at the Wexner Center back in 2014 as part of the amazing Cruzamentos exhibit. The residency helped to support this latest feature film.
  2. Cinetracts '20 (Various, 2019-2020) (from now until December 31)- a compilation of shorts produced by the Wexner's artists-in-residency, including not only one by Mascaro, but another by Mexican-born filmmaker Natalia Almada and Puerto Rican filmmaker Beatriz Santiago Munoz. Inspired by a collaborative effort (called Cinetracts) by French filmmakers to respond to the tumultuous events of May 1968, Wexner Center Film/Video curators David Filipi, Jennifer Lange, and Chris Stults invited the former resident-artists to capture “the zeitgeist in your own backyard.” And given recent events, some filmmakers responded by commenting on the COVID-19 pandemic or police violence toward Black communities.
  3. Viva Kid Flicks (Ages 8 and up) (from now until December 31)- Highlighting a range of kids’ perspectives, the program includes the New York International Children’s Film Festival jury-award winner 3Feet (3pies), a hilarious look at a boy trying his best to keep things clean so he can play soccer, and the beautifully filmed The Size of Things (El tamaño de las cosas), which shows a variety of surprising and magical views of the world. (65 mins., digital video) In Spanish with English subtitles. Closed captioning available.
