Performance and Culture in Cuba Program

Work Study Student Position

The deadline to apply for the Autumn Semester / December 2016 education abroad program in Cuba is May 30th. The program is open to undergraduates who are junior rank or higher and graduate students in all majors  and disciplines.

The Performance and Culture in Cuba study abroad program will provide students with a background to Cuban culture and the performing and visual arts. It will offer a historical overview and address rapidly changing relations currently at play between Cuba and the United States. Guest lectures will offer insights from many perspectives about artistic activities and the ways in which the arts are central to life in Cuba. The study tour will take place in Havana, the capital city of Cuba and will enable the group to interact with working artists, directors, designers, choreographers, performers and filmmakers who shape and reflect the complex nature of Cuban life.

The Autumn Semester course provides admitted participants with 3 credit hours of Theatre 5751 (scheduled Wednesday and Friday 12:45p.m. – 2:05p.m.) and for 1 hour of Theatre 5798.02 for the in-country experience.

Program Cost: Ohio State Tuition + $2,527 program fee

The program fee includes: round trip airfare, housing, visa, breakfast and dinner, required excursions and supplemental insurance. It does not cover lunches, passport or immunizations.
