About FLAS Fellowships
CLAS is seeking applications for FLAS Fellowships for Summer 2024 and Academic Year 2024-2025 under the U.S. Department of Education's Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program. Fellowships are available for Ohio State graduate, professional, and undergraduate students pursuing a course of study requiring advanced foreign language (Haitian Creole, Portuguese, or Quechua) and Latin American area studies training. Subject to approval, FLAS fellowships may also be used for foreign language and area studies at other U.S. or foreign institutions.
Important note for Summer FLAS applicants: The U.S. Department of Education has increased the summer stipend from $2,500 to $3,500, beginning in Summer 2024!
Applications will be submitted online (application window opens Wednesday, November 1, 2023) and are due by Thursday, February 1, 2024, 11:59 p.m. EST. Detailed application instructions will be made available soon; for now, find details about last year's competition, the vast majority of which remain the same, here: 2023-2024 FLAS Fellowship Information.
Notification of competition results: Awards for both periods will be announced in mid-March 2024.

If you require an accommodation such as live captioning or interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Leila Vieira (vieira.31@osu.edu). Requests made one week in advance of the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
